Abstract

This work proposes a contemporary re-reading of some of the

Tradiciones by the Peruvian writer Ricardo Palma. In the texts chosen, textual marks and mechanisms are identified as revealing the survival of the colonial baroque cosmic vision in a republican writing significantly connected to the refoundation of nationality. Finally, some of the stylistic coincidences with contemporary neobaroque are brought into focus.
