Abstract

Here is presented an analysis of the relevant statistics used in socioeconomic indicators in Chile, referring to the ethical principles of territorial planning. A tentative aclaration of the concept of 'common good' is attempted, analysing the underlying philosophical aspects and those which are established in the Political Constitution of the Republic of Chile. Examples are given of the current incoherence, between discourse and action, and it is shown how some institutions responsable for upholding the common good twist the interpretation of the law in favour of the private sector. The ethical imperative of territorial planning is highlighted.
